About the museum
The Museu Adega de Odeceixe arose from the need to preserve the memory of the art of winemaking according to ancestral practices. In Odeceixe alone, more than 17 wine cellars (adegas) once existed at the same time. The museum opened in 1992.
It was later renovated and now occupies an entirely new building and exhibition. The space combines the tradition of its collection with the contemporary, through projections and interactive elements that help interpret this traditional craft.
The museum is a self-guided visit, with video surveillance, and invites the community and visitors to take part in preserving this legacy.
