About the museum
The Núcleo Rural de Ervidel is a thematic unit on rural identity, in a parish with strongly rural traditions. It is housed in a decommissioned former olive press, which later served as a workshop and store for the parish council, and it underwent only minor alterations when adapted into a museum.
The collection comes from donations and collections made in the municipality of Aljustrel, and from the acquisition by the Câmara Municipal of the ethnographic collection of the farmer José Ramires Saraiva of Ervidel. It brings together objects that were the material support of a rural society in transformation, and is organised into three groups: a reconstruction of a rural house, beekeeping instruments and the wheat cycle.
