About the museum
The origins of today's museum date back to the 1970s and 1980s, when the Mestské múzeum v Bratislave (Bratislava City Museum) assembled a collection from donations by residents of Dúbravka and set up an exhibition, including a room on revolutionary traditions, in five rooms of the former Dúbravka school on Žatevná ulica (today the local council office). In early 2006, objects of folk culture were installed in the premises of the Dúbravka local library. In 2011 the museum moved into the restored former house of the village shepherd on Pod záhradami street; the original exhibits were then returned from the City Museum, and the museum began building its own collections.
In five rooms, thematic exhibitions now document the earliest history of Dúbravka, the development of axes in Slovakia, life in Dúbravka in old photographs, and viticultural tools and implements. A valuable part is the digital archive of deeds, documents, minute books and chronicles – the urbár (historic land register), the Pamätná kniha Dúbravky (Dúbravka Memorial Book), minutes of the finance committee from 1926–1938 – as well as old cadastral maps.
