About the museum

The Slovak Technical Museum presents its Exhibition of Historical Clocks in the Classicist, Maria Theresan manor house in Budimír. The manor house was built by the Ujházy family; portraits of its owners are part of the exhibition, which, besides the exhibits, also offers interesting facts about the past and present of the manor house.

The permanent exhibition focuses on the typological development of clockwork mechanisms and the artistic design of clock cases from the beginning of the 18th century to the first third of the 20th century. On display are wall, frame and table clocks, pocket watches from the 17th and 18th centuries, and tower clock mechanisms. The oldest object connected with the site is a brass wall clock from 1760, from the workshop of the Košice clockmaker Lehner.

Among the unique pieces are the French Boulle clock from 1720, the oldest pocket watch, the so-called Nuremberg Egg from 1630, clocks made of Meissen porcelain, a collection of pocket watches by makers such as Omega, Cartier or Breguet, and a striking tower clock from Vienna from 1905. The attractive setting of the manor house is complemented by a French park.
