About the museum
The museum in Svätý Jur was founded by the teacher Arpád Felcán and opened on 24 April 1937. Felcán gathered a number of antiquities, which to this day form the core of the museum's collection. The exhibition has been reworked several times so that visitors receive new information and objects from the history of the town of Svätý Jur; objects from archaeological excavations document life in the town from the Neolithic to the present.
The museum belongs to the Malokarpatské múzeum in Pezinok. Since 7 October 2026 it has been temporarily closed, because it is moving to new premises on Dr. Kautza Street, where a completely new exhibition is being prepared. The change involves a new space, a new name and a new museum; its new design was chosen by an anonymous architectural competition with nine entries. The opening date will be announced in advance.
