About the museum

The Little Carpathian Museum in Pezinok focuses on the culture of viticulture and winemaking in the Little Carpathians. It is housed in a 17th-century Renaissance house in the historic centre of the town and, since 2002, has come under the founding authority of the Bratislava Self-Governing Region.

The museum presents two permanent experience-based exhibitions. The Story of Wine is devoted to the history of viticulture and winemaking in the most important Slovak wine region, to archaeological finds and to Pezinok guild objects. The exhibition History of Viticulture and Winemaking below the Little Carpathians is in the original Renaissance cellars and contains the largest collection of historic viticultural presses in Europe; the oldest exhibit is a beam press from 1608.

The tour is complemented by interactive elements, for example virtual reality of the Great Moravian stronghold at the Neštich site, a blood-alcohol simulator, an aroma bar and a bottle-corking machine. The museum also has branches in Svätý Jur, Stupava and Senec, and offers experience-based wine tastings.
