About the museum
The Zážitkové centrum vedy Aurelium (Aurelium Science Experience Centre) belongs to the Centrum vedecko-technických informácií SR (Centre of Scientific and Technical Information of the Slovak Republic). Its name was inspired by the name of the prominent Slovak scientist Aurel Stodola. The centre is not a classic museum: visitors can try out all the exhibits themselves and explore science with all their senses.
On an area of more than 2,000 m² there are more than 100 interactive exhibits from physics, mathematics and chemistry, robotics, electrical and mechanical engineering, magnetism, optics and thermodynamics, as well as from nature and the human senses. The exhibits are grouped into themes such as mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, the human body, renewable energy sources and ecology, chemistry and materials, and mathematics.
The main attractions include Teslov svet (Tesla's World) with exhibits working with high voltage, Svet kvapalín (World of Liquids), technology and robotics, a 3D body impression and a laser show. The exhibits carry descriptions of their basic idea, and guides in the centre explain the principle and use of the individual exhibits. The centre is intended for individual visitors, families with children from the age of five, and school groups.
