About the museum
In the years 1936–1938 Czechoslovakia built a system of permanent border fortifications consisting of reinforced concrete fortresses and an extensive network of anti-tank and anti-infantry obstacles. The fortifications did not fulfil their purpose: after the Munich decision the country had to capitulate, during the war the occupiers used them, and in the communist period many structures fell victim to steel salvage. The army permanently left the Petržalka bunkers in the nineties, and their equipment was gradually stripped.
The civic association Múzeum petržalského opevnenia has been restoring the object B-S 4 Lány since 2011. Volunteers are returning it to its original state from 1938 and have created a museum in it. The bunker is among the best-restored fortification structures in Slovakia, including its outdoor system of obstacles.
On two floors there are firing rooms with heavy machine guns and an anti-tank gun, a functional engine room and filter room, accommodation rooms, storerooms and an exhibition of historical firearms. Visitors are guided by volunteers.
