About the museum
The museum in Kráľovský Chlmec is housed in an eclectic building that Count Jozef Mailáth had built in 1895. It is part of the Cultural Centre of Medzibodrožie and Použie, and its main task is to collect historical artefacts and exhibits on the development of society in the region.
The permanent exhibition is devoted to Count Jozef Mailáth and the Transylvanian branch of the Mailáth family, their role and influence on the cultural and social development of the region. It also presents the history and folk culture of Medzibodrožie and Použie. In the cellar spaces there is an exhibition on the centuries-old wine-growing tradition of the region, with a royal wine collection.
The western wing houses the museum's research workplace and library. Each year the museum prepares educational and entertainment programmes, such as the Night of Museums and Galleries, Bodrog Song and Advent events, and occasionally thematic exhibitions.
