About the museum
In 2018 Elan opened its own museum, becoming the first ski manufacturer to have a museum of its own. The company began its story in 1945, when Rudi Finžgar founded the Elan craft cooperative at Zgoša near Begunje and began producing skis and gymnastics equipment there.
The museum is part of the Elan factory and shop in Begunje. It presents the development of skis, from Rudi Finžgar’s first wooden skis to the most modern skis with Amphibio technology, old ski-making machines and milestones in design. Films and photographs present Elan’s ski heroes. The collection is supplemented by a display of other products of the factory, including children’s toys, boats and badminton rackets.
Visitors can try the interactive stations: test themselves as masters in a ski workshop, warm up on gymnastics equipment, listen to music in a retro corner or try the ski simulator.
