About the museum
The Magušarjeva hiša in the old town centre of Radovljica is the home and creative centre of the renowned Slovenian ceramicist Urban Magušar. Over the centuries it grew out of three houses, linked by a valuable 16th-century arcaded corridor. In the workshop in the mansard the owner makes vessels and decorative objects after old models, and passes on his knowledge to his descendants and other enthusiasts of clay and ceramics.
On the ground floor of the house there is an exhibition of Gorenjska rural pottery. It shows bowls from the two largest old pottery centres in Gorenjska: from the village of Ljubno, only a few kilometres from Radovljica, and from Komenda.
On the other side of the street is the Manufaktura, a small pottery workshop with a shop, where small-batch ceramic products are made, including ceramic houses of the old town of Radovljica. The Magušarjeva hiša is open by prior arrangement; closed groups can also visit it as part of a guided tour of the old town of Radovljica (for a surcharge).
