About the museum
In the library of the Levstikov dom in Velike Lašče a memorial room of Fran Levstik and Josip Stritar is on display. It is of interest above all because of the many original objects and documents that both writers owned.
The Stritar memorial collection has been enriched with objects donated by Stritar's grandchildren: a bust by the sculptor Alojz Gangl, original letters by Stritar, his lesson preparations, a seal and original wall paintings from his house in Vienna. Among the rare objects belonging to Levstik on display are the water pitcher with which he went to fetch water at the Ilij family's, his washbasin and a small dish for toiletries.
The guided tour of the memorial room is adapted to different age groups and includes an overview of the main events in the lives and works of both writers. The memorial room is run by the Javni zavod Trubarjevi kraji.
