About the museum
The Žabja hiša (Frog House) was created within the INTERREG Slo–HR project Vezi narave (Nature Links), when the old, abandoned building was renovated in 2021. During Yugoslavia it was the centre of a secret intelligence service; earlier it served an important function as the village mill at the spring of the Šica.
In the building, visitors use various interpretation tools to learn about the living and non-living nature of the exceptional Radensko polje. The exhibition also reveals the most hidden corners of this natural karst gem, where three watercourses, together with people, have shaped the landscape for centuries. It presents the Krajinski park Radensko polje and the importance of preserving nature for future generations.
Right next to the house is the spring of the Šica, which looks different in every kind of weather: after rain, the foaming waters surround the little island with the Žabja hiša; in dry periods the spring turns into a dark green water basin. From here walks lead to the Zatočne jame (Zatočne Caves), where the waters of the Grosupeljsko polje (Grosuplje Plain) sink underground, to Kopanj, where France Prešeren spent his childhood years, and to Ostri vrh, with a view over Radensko polje.
