About the museum
The Muzej Radlje ob Dravi (Radlje ob Dravi Museum) is a unit of the Koroški pokrajinski muzej, established in 2012 by a new decree on the founding of the museum; it was given premises in the Radlje manor house. The manor was comprehensively restored within the project “Dvorec Radlje – kulturno in gozdno središče Zgornje Dravske doline” (Radlje Manor – Cultural and Forestry Centre of the Upper Drava Valley), and now serves as the central venue for presenting sustainable forestry heritage.
The permanent exhibition “Sonaravno z gozdom. Po sledeh Franja Pahernika” (Sustainable Forestry – On the Trail of Franjo Pahernik) presents the engineer Franjo Pahernik (1882–1976), who began managing his 552-hectare Pohorje forests sustainably more than 120 years ago. The exhibition, with digital presentations and exhibits, invites reflection on a respectful attitude towards the forest; in 2014 the Spominska soba rodbine Pahernik (Pahernik Family Memorial Room) was also set up in the manor.
Other displays in the manor include an exhibition on the gymnastics society Sokol Radlje ob Dravi – Vuhred and the permanent exhibition of the Koroška galerija likovnih umetnosti (Carinthian Gallery of Fine Arts) on the oeuvre of the artist Miro Hajnc.
