About the museum
On the farmstead known locally as Župank in Št. Janž pri Radljah, a group of partisans from the 3rd Battalion of the Lackov odred (Lacko Detachment) spent the night of 23 November 1944 during the German offensive in the Kozjak area. Suddenly a stronger German unit surrounded and attacked them. In memory of seven fallen partisans, a monument was erected beside the farmstead in 1983, and in 1984, in cooperation with the then Koroški pokrajinski muzej revolucije (Carinthian Regional Museum of the Revolution), a permanent collection on the history of the liberation movement on Kozjak and the Lackov odred was opened in the house. The collection was on display until 2008.
In 2013 the Koroški pokrajinski muzej, Muzej Radlje ob Dravi (Carinthian Regional Museum, Radlje ob Dravi Museum), set up in the farmstead the exhibition Partizanska saniteta na Koroškem (Partisan Medical Service in Carinthia) by Dr Marjan Linasi. The core of the exhibition is devoted to Pauček's hospitals in the western Pohorje, where Dr Ivan Kopač – Pauček built six partisan hospitals by the end of the war. About 300 wounded were treated in them. On display are documentary material and original objects, including an operating table, a dental chair with a foot-operated drilling machine, and Dr Kopač's scalpel and surgical instruments. A half-hour documentary film from 1983 is also screened.
