About the museum

The Muzej sanitete prve svetovne vojne (Museum of Medical Services of the First World War) is housed in the old mortuary chapel at the cemetery in Renče. The collection shows how the military hospital in Renče operated and presents the medical equipment used to treat sick and wounded soldiers in the First World War.

The exhibition is presented on five display panels covering the outbreak of the war, Renče during the First World War, refugees, the hospital and the medical service in general. In addition to the panels, some original objects and an Austro-Hungarian medical orderly's uniform are on display. The exhibition is supplemented by a large amount of pictorial material, from documents to photographs of Renče before and during the war.

Traces of the First World War can also be seen in the Vinišče memorial park in Renče, which is criss-crossed by trenches, bunkers, a cavern and well-kept paths. Right next to the museum is a small collection about the aleksandrinke.
