About the museum
The permanent exhibition in the Kulturni dom Bukovica (Bukovica Cultural Centre) takes visitors through the history of industry and crafts in the municipality of Renče–Vogrsko. The area is still best known today for brick-making; clay was already fired here in Roman times, and the Vipava river made milling possible.
A real boom in industry and crafts in this relatively small area came after the Second World War, when a multitude of trades appeared, from masonry to the processing of artificial materials. Through stories, objects and photographs, the collection shows that the first entrepreneurs and craftsmen began in abandoned brickworks, horse stables, former inns and small home garages.
