About the museum
Pütarov mlin (Pütar Mill) stands by the Lukaj stream in the village of Dolnji Slaveči. It dates from 1921, when it was driven by a water wheel; later it was modernised and electricity was introduced. Today it no longer operates, but the electrically driven roller mechanism has been fully preserved in it. Beside the mill is the oljarna (oil press), the space where oil was produced. The mill was restored in 2009.
After its restoration, as a cultural-technical monument, it serves as a museum. It is the only example in Slovenia of the rarely preserved rural building heritage of the Pannonian plains linked with milling: the multi-storey brick mill has kept all the qualities and characteristics of this type of economic building, which were indispensable on farms for processing food for people and fodder for animals. A visit is possible by prior arrangement.
