About the museum
The memorial house was built in 2009 in the so-called Küzmič Year (Küzmičevo leto) and is owned by the Municipality of Puconci; it is run by the Razvojni zavod Občine Puconci (Development Institute of the Municipality of Puconci). It is named after the great son of Prekmurje, the Protestant priest and teacher Števan Küzmič, who in 1771 laid the foundations of the Prekmurje literary language with his translation of the New Testament into the Prekmurje language.
The house is dedicated not only to Küzmič but to all the great figures of the Reformation and Protestantism in this region, and to the whole movement that has survived in Prekmurje to this day. It stands in Puconci, which is considered the oldest Evangelical parish. Visitors can see the permanent exhibition of Evangelical books and documents as well as the temporary exhibitions, which are prepared several times a year. Tourist groups receive basic information on Protestantism and on the Evangelical churches of Prekmurje and Slovenia under guidance; short documentary films are shown on request. The house also hosts lectures, book presentations, music evenings and other cultural events.
