About the museum
The Romski muzej v Kamencih (Roma Museum in Kamenci) opened on 11 September 2003 in the Roma settlement of Kamenci in the municipality of Črenšovci. It is the first Roma museum in Slovenia and part of the efforts of the Roma community of Kamenci to preserve its historical memory.
The museum holds objects from the time when the first Roma family settled in the Kamenci area. Visitors in and around the museum learn about the former way of life of the Roma, the history of the settlement, and the legends and other customs passed down through oral tradition.
During a visit, traditional Roma crafts can also be demonstrated, including those of the žlajfarji (wooden spoon makers), as well as performances by a fortune-teller, musicians and dancers.
