About the museum
The Aula Histórica occupies the keep (torre del homenaje) of the castle of San Felices de los Gallegos, a border fortress next to Portugal. The tower, with slender proportions and solid ashlar masonry, was remodelled in the 14th century and still has a cistern and a dungeon at its base beneath a groin vault.
The route through the building's three floors explains, with panels, graphics, models and replica weapons, the evolution of military architecture and of the frontier fortifications. The lower floor is devoted to the history of San Felices de los Gallegos and to the origin of the El Noveno festival, which has been declared of tourist interest.
