About the museum

Víctor Corral was born in Baamonde, trained in Barcelona and Switzerland, and decided to settle in his native village. He built his house stone by stone in the 1970s, following the model of a Galician pazo, and made it his home, studio and museum.

His work revolves around Galicia, religion and nature, often in an abstract language. He worked mainly in granite and wood, and also in bronze and ivory, and he painted watercolours and oils.

The visit covers the interior of the house and the estate around it. Inside, the most fragile pieces, in wood, ivory and some bronze, are preserved, together with poems, photographs, press clippings and objects from the studio; one room houses the largest compositions, mostly religious, and another the miniatures. In the garden there are granite and bronze sculptures, a chapel, a small pond and a dovecote with stones and minerals from around the world.
