About the museum
The Centro de Interpretación de la Pesca en el Eo is housed in the former school building of San Tirso de Abres, in western Asturias, and is dedicated to the Río Eo and the fishing activity that has developed around it.
Using audiovisual, photographic and computer media, visitors learn about the river, the species that live in it and people’s relationship with it, as well as the importance of fishing in the area.
The exhibition traces the milestones of fishing on the Eo during the 20th century, with particular attention to the Coto Marzales and the Coto Nacional de Turismo. It is complemented by a display of traditional and modern fishing objects, such as rods, flies, nets, reels, fish traps, gaffs, hooks and baskets, which help explain what fishing in the river meant for much of the last century.
