About the museum
The Centro de Recepción e Interpretación del Parque Natural de Redes is in Campo de Caso (El Campu), the capital of the municipality of Caso. It is the gateway to a natural park and Biosphere Reserve that represents the Cantabrian mountains and preserves large areas of mature forest, one of the last refuges of the Cantabrian capercaillie.
The permanent exhibition recreates the park’s territory with a stage-set display, interactive elements, audiovisual media and panels. It covers the geology, flora, fauna and ethnography of the area with photographs, texts, games and audiovisuals. The visit can be guided by the centre’s staff and lasts around 20 minutes. An audiovisual room with capacity for 50 people shows a 12-minute film about the park.
The centre also has a temporary exhibition room, an environmental education room, a collection of more than 100 titles on the environment and plenty of information on hiking routes and park regulations. Free guided visits are offered to formal-education groups, which can be combined with an interpretive trail.
