About the museum
La Maison D'EROS opened on 29 October 2022 in an old 19th-century house beside the Plaza Mayor of Medinaceli. It is promoted by the DEARTE Foundation, the same foundation that runs music, theatre and film festivals at the town's Palacio Ducal. The project grew out of the collaboration between the architect Carlos Arroyo and the gallerist Miquel Tugores.
The museum brings together works by more than eighty Spanish and foreign artists in painting, watercolour, sculpture, photography, video art and prints. A significant part comes from the permanent collection of Miquel Tugores. The route, called “Jardín de las Delicias”, shows how human sexuality has been represented in different eras and cultures, from prehistoric art and the Roman world to the present day. In addition to the exhibition rooms, the house hosts poetry and literature activities and talks.
