About the museum

The Museu Arqueològic Municipal de Moixent offers a chronological and thematic route through the main cultural changes that took place in the Cànyoles valley, from prehistory to the early modern period. After an introduction to the geography of Moixent and the valley, the visit begins with a prehistory section that includes remains from the Neolithic and the Late Bronze Age, and information on the rock paintings in the municipal area.

The Iberian section presents objects from the former excavations at La Bastida de les Alcusses (ceramics, metalwork, textiles, ornaments and writing), alongside a replica of the Guerrero de Moixent. It is complemented by a funerary area with grave goods and sculptures from Corral de Saus and from the tomb of the Bosquet. The third section is devoted to the Roman period, with particular emphasis on the Vía Augusta and rural life, and the route continues to the early modern period.

The museum shares its building with the tourist office, on the Calle Poeta Gabriel Vila. Schools and other groups may book guided visits in small groups of up to 25 people.
