Museo del Automóvil y la Moda de Málaga

Private collection of almost one hundred classic cars and more than 500 haute couture pieces in the former Tabacalera in Málaga.

Opening hoursAdmission €12

About the museum

The museum occupies the building of the former Málaga tobacco factory. Its foundation stone was laid on 29 July 1923 and, after works that took longer than expected, the Tabacalera began operating in 1932. It was one of two factories whose construction was approved in Spain after the 1921 renewal of the agreements between the State and the Compañía Arrendataria de Tabacos, together with the one in Tarragona.

The cultural project is the work of the Magalhães family, of Portuguese origin and based in Málaga. Their private collection of classic and fashion vehicles from different eras was looking for a home in one of Spain's major cities, and the museum opened on 16 September 2010. The acquisition of exotic, extravagant and legendary vehicles began with the grandfather of the current owner.

The owner expanded the offer with works of universal art and haute couture dresses. Today the route brings together almost one hundred classic vehicles, more than five hundred haute couture pieces and contemporary artworks, spread across 13 themed spaces.
