About the museum

The Museo del Transporte Urbano de Málaga opened on 22 September 2025 with the aim of preserving and promoting the city's public transport heritage. It is the result of around fifteen years of work by the association TRAN-BUS, with the collaboration of the municipal company EMT Málaga, and is housed in a room on the first floor of the Estación de Autobuses.

The exhibition traces the history of public transport in Málaga from the first tram, in 1881, to the present day. It brings together restored buses, including 1920s models built in Málaga, as well as models, photographs, documents, uniforms and objects such as old tickets and transport cards. One room recalls the trams that stopped running in the city in 1961, and there are also mementos of the work of EMT employees during the Feria and Holy Week.

The museum has an educational approach, is open to all kinds of visitors and pays particular attention to school visits.
