Museo Casa de la Ribera

Traditional 16th-century house in Peñafiel, visited on dramatised tours that recreate life at the start of the 20th century.

Opening hoursAdmission €5 Partially accessible

About the museum

The Casa Museo de la Ribera is one of the finest examples of traditional architecture preserved in Peñafiel. It dates back to the 16th century, and the restoration respected both the structures of that period and the spaces from the early 20th century.

The visit is dramatised and lasts about an hour. Two actors bring to life a married couple from the early 20th century, Mariano and Tomasa, “anchored in the past”. He shows the cantina (storeroom), the stables, the courtyard, the wine press and the two cellars; she shows the rooms over the three floors, the kitchen, the oven and the bedrooms, with farm tools, oil lamps, rosaries and portraits.

The route shows how wine, bread and other products of the pig slaughter were made. The house is owned by the municipality and managed by the company Turifiel.
