About the museum

The Museo de Automoción e Historia, known as MAHI, is a cultural and educational project of the Fundación Jorge Jove. It opened in 2023 in the Sabón industrial estate in Arteixo. It combines exhibition, education and the recovery of historical, industrial and cultural heritage, and traces the evolution of the car over the course of the 20th century.

The collection comprises some 300 vehicles and thousands of parts, photographs and documents. Highlights include the Pegaso collection, the first fire engines of A Coruña, and an archive of some 3.5 million historical Iveco drawings donated to the museum. The vehicles and objects carry QR codes linking to detailed documentation.

The museum has 13 rooms. The first are devoted to Spanish automotive history, with Hispano-Suiza and Pegaso, and the following ones connect the car with music, the countryside, literature, firefighting, public services, photography, art, cinema, economic milestones and sport. Room 13 is reserved for temporary exhibitions. The building also has a café open to the public and spaces that can be rented for events.
