About the museum
The museum occupies a former 18th-century olive mill on Calle Alta in Benalauría, in the Serranía de Ronda. The L-shaped building was used to extract olive oil by pressing the olives, and its machinery and tools have survived intact, including a large chestnut beam used for pressing.
The La Molienda cooperative leased the building, which was the best surviving example of a mill in the village, restored it and opened it to the public as the village museum. Local residents donated objects from the rural history of the village, which complete the mill with farming tools and items from country life.
The visit includes an audio guide and an audiovisual presentation explaining how the pressing beam works. The museum also has a shop.
