About the museum
The Museo de Historia Veterinaria is located at the headquarters of the Colegio Oficial de Veterinarios de Almería (Official Veterinary College of Almería), on Calle Pamplona. The college presents it as the first civilian veterinary museum opened in Spain, a space designed to help visitors better understand the profession of the veterinarian over the years.
The collection continues to grow with the addition of old pieces and instruments used by the predecessors of today’s veterinarians, which help show how the profession has evolved. According to the college, the museum has become a reference for other professional associations that have begun to gather material and bibliography to make a profession that is sometimes little known more visible.
The museum is open to the general public, but only by prior appointment, which must be requested from the Colegio de Veterinarios de Almería.
