About the museum
The Museu de la Ciutat is in the Casa de Polo, a traditional 19th-century alquería (farmhouse) rehabilitated as the municipal museum of Vila-real.
Its rooms are dedicated to the town’s artists with the greatest international profile, especially the composer and guitarist Francisco Tárrega (1852-1909), author of works such as “Capricho árabe” and “Recuerdos de la Alhambra”. Tribute is also paid to the sculptor José Ortells (1887-1961) and to the painters Gimeno Barón (1912-1978) and José Gumbau (1907-1989).
As well as the permanent exhibition, the museum has an important room for temporary exhibitions.
