About the museum
The MUCAC, Museo Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga, is a municipal institution run by the Agencia Pública para la Gestión de la Casa Natal de Pablo Ruiz Picasso y Otros Equipamientos Museísticos y Culturales. It was created from the merger of the former Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (CAC) and the Museo del Patrimonio Municipal (MUPAM), which occupied the La Coracha building on the Paseo de Reding.
The La Coracha venue reopened on 25 April 2025 after an upgrade of its facilities. The permanent collection spans from the late 19th century to contemporary creation and includes the holdings of the MUPAM and of the former Museo Municipal, mainly painting, printmaking and sculpture from the last third of the 19th century and the 20th century, as well as the 560 works in municipal ownership brought together by the former CAC and deposits such as the Carmen Riera art collection.
The Mayoristas venue, on Calle Alemania, remains temporarily closed for works. At La Coracha the collection exhibition “Ayer. Colección 1940-1990” is on show until April 2027, alongside a programme of temporary exhibitions.
