About the museum

The Museo Revello de Toro opened its doors on 27 November 2010 in the historic centre of Málaga. It is dedicated to the painter Félix Revello de Toro, a figurative painter and portraitist from Málaga who gave his work to his native city. It is run by Málaga City Council.

The museum occupies the studio-house of the sculptor Pedro de Mena, one of the few residences of its era that survive in the city. The building was restored and made fit for this purpose and, in addition to the museum, houses an interpretation centre dedicated to the sculptor, with an interactive table and a ten-minute documentary.

The permanent collection displays 113 of the 142 works donated by the artist, including oil paintings, sketches and drawings, grouped by theme and technique: an intimate room with still lifes and family portraits, another with his female figures, for which he is best known, and another with drawings and sketches. A separate room hosts two temporary exhibitions a year, in spring and autumn. The museum also offers guided tours, children's workshops and open days, and in 2026 it celebrates the centenary of the painter.
