About the museum
OXO Museo del Videojuego opened on 26 January 2023 and admitted visitors the following day. It is run by Kaiju Entertainment under a thirty-year concession granted by the Diputación de Málaga (provincial council) in 2022.
It is located in the Plaza del Siglo, in a rehabilitated 19th-century building that until 2019 housed the Centro de Arte de la Tauromaquia (bullfighting art centre). The first floor houses the permanent exhibition “70 años de videojuegos”, a second floor is devoted to temporary exhibitions and the third, called OXO Labs, to technology and virtual and extended reality.
The museum's approach is for visitors to play: you can try consoles from every generation, walk through an area of classic arcade machines and enter a space dedicated to the future of video games. As well as free visits, it offers family visits, group and school visits and corporate events, plus a shop and the Terraza Catedral rooftop restaurant.
