About the museum
The Ador museum is conceived as a place to preserve, research and disseminate local cultural heritage, and also as a showcase for artists from the village and for anyone who wishes to display their work. It also has space for educational activities for the whole population, and especially for schoolchildren.
It occupies an emblematic building in the old town that for several decades housed the former Town Hall and other school premises. Its stone façade faces a landscaped square.
The ground floor houses the permanent exhibition, with tools, implements and objects of all kinds contributed by residents and grouped by their use in household and farm work. The beekeeping pieces are particularly important, as the activity was deeply rooted from the 16th century onwards, and in the mid-20th century Ador was the second-largest honey producer in the comarca. The first floor is used for temporary or travelling exhibitions, supported by a framework agreement with the Diputación de València.
