About the museum

The museum has been registered in the Andalusian Museums Register since 1998 and depends on Cañete de las Torres Town Council. Its rooms are next to Plaza de España, in the setting of the town's medieval castle.

The collection exceeds 1,500 archaeological pieces, mainly from the municipal area and the comarca. It spans from geological times to the Contemporary Age, with evidence from Prehistory, the Iberian culture, the Roman period, the Visigothic period and the Islamic period.

Among the most notable objects are the Ibero-Roman relief of Torreparedones and the Roman bronze tablet of Los Alamillos. The museum also holds an important collection of ex-votos.
