About the museum
The origins of the museum go back to the early 1970s. Its first museum activity was an exhibition held in 1972 at the premises of the Cámara Agraria Local (local agricultural chamber), with pieces collected from the sites in the municipality. Many residents contributed by handing over objects that had turned up during farm work.
This process of recovering archaeological heritage culminated on 20 February 1985, when the municipal plenary agreed to create the Museo Histórico Municipal de Fuente-Tójar. After several refurbishments, it now has three exhibition rooms that trace the history of the town from its first settlers to the present day.
