About the museum
The Museo Molino de Teodoro occupies a former water-powered flour mill on the banks of the River Segura, on the outskirts of Cieza. The earliest known document that mentions it dates from November 1507, and it continued grinding wheat until the early years of the second half of the 20th century. Over time it was known by several names, such as Regidores Perpetuos, Marín, Andelma or Cebollar. From the early 20th century it belonged to the García family and took the name of its last owner, Teodoro.
The building has two floors and a semi-basement. On the ground floor the processes of cleaning the wheat and grinding it are shown, yielding semolina and bran. On the first floor are the sieve (cernedor) and the sifter (sasado), where the flour is separated and packed. In the semi-basement is the cárcabo (water conduit), divided into two niches by a wall, with two horizontal wooden wheels that transmitted the power of the water to the machinery. The channel that carried the water runs past the rear of the building.
