About the museum

The museum occupies the first passenger terminal of Málaga airport, designed by the architect Luis Gutiérrez Soto and approved in 1948. After it fell out of use with the expansion of the airport, the building was reclaimed as a museum space next to the General Aviation terminal.

The Asociación de Amigos del Museo, a volunteer group that obtained its official registration in 2005, plays a central role: more than a hundred active members, including more than thirty restorers, devote thousands of hours a year to restoring aircraft and helping with guided tours, exhibitions and events. The museum relies mainly on donations, grants and projects.

The collection includes a Douglas DC-3, a Convair 440, a McDonnell Douglas DC-9, a 1937 Beechcraft E-18S and a Bell 47 helicopter, among other aircraft, some of which can be entered. The route continues through the Historic Terminal of 1948, with its period furniture and access to the control tower, the Aviation Room, the Interactive Engine Room, a flight simulation room and a viewing terrace overlooking the runway.
