About the museum
The Palacio de Miranda-Valdecarzana is an 18th-century Baroque building in the historic centre of Grado, on Calle Cerro de la Muralla. It is linked to the Capilla de los Dolores, also 18th century, which because of its size is considered a church and is used for cultural activities. The palace is now shared with the town's Casa de Cultura.
One of the branches of the Museo Etnográfico y de Historia de Grau/Grado, founded in 1982, occupies part of the palace: the Llagar de Sidra. Here two large cider presses are on display, one with old carvings, along with other objects related to the making and consumption of Asturian cider. This branch can be visited during the opening hours of the Casa de Cultura, and guided visits for groups must be booked in advance.
