About the museum
Arons Berg Museum is located in the Brännare region near Vilshult in Olofström Municipality. Here visitors can see one of the quarries along the so-called black line, a narrow vein of dark diabase that runs through the area around Olofström. The black stone, known as the region's black gold, was quarried here for a long time.
On the site there are tools used in the stone industry in the 19th century, including drills, winches, cranes, compressors, grindstones and stone-cutting tools. The old smithy, a storage room and the workers' cottage have also been preserved, giving an impression of how work and everyday life looked for the stone workers.
Visit Blekinge describes the museum as open all year with free admission. Together with the Stenmuseet (stone museum) in Vilshult, it tells the story of the craft, the quarrying and the people who worked with diabase.
