About the museum
Dammsjöås is a croft near Alingsås which since 1987 has been jointly owned by Alingsås local heritage society and Alingsås Friluftsklubb (outdoor club). The last tenant, Allan Karlsson, bequeathed the croft and the associated forest and farmland to the two associations.
On the site there are old red houses with white corners and a well with drinking water. An exhibition is held in the old cowshed, and information boards tell the history of the farm and of Allan Karlsson. Next to the croft there is a shelter with fireplaces where visitors can barbecue and cook.
From the croft runs the Dammsjöås trail, a hiking trail of about 7 kilometres to Ängabostugan that is not suitable for pushchairs. The croft is also used as a training venue for, among others, Hjälmared folk high school and the outdoor days of Ängabo school.
