About the museum
The museum Ett hem i Jonsered (A Home in Jonsered) opened in 2011 and lies on the Jonsered factory site in Partille. The visitor steps into a workers’ home as it may have looked in Jonsered in the 19th century.
The museum is in the Nye Gården row of houses, directly to the left inside the Porthuset (gatehouse). The row was built in the 1840s as housing for the factory’s workers. The Jonsered works village is one of Sweden’s best-preserved industrial environments from the second half of the 19th century.
The museum has been used in school programs for Partille’s pupils, where teachers play a working family from the 1850s and the children get to try how a family lived and worked. The museum also takes part in Swedish Heritage Day (Kulturarvsdagen) together with Jonsered Local Heritage Association.
