About the museum
The association Folk och Trädgård i Tungelsta started in 1999 with a vision of building a museum that would preserve the history of Tungelsta's horticulture before it disappeared completely. The Tungelsta garden park and the association's greenhouse, built from old parts mainly from the 1950s, were inaugurated in 2002.
Construction of the drying shed began in 2004, and the ground floor was inaugurated two years later. The upper floor, where the museum is, was completed in 2008. The whole building was done with volunteer working hours, materials and grants from local companies, associations and private individuals, as well as cultural grants from Haninge Municipality.
