About the museum
Frammegården in Skillingmark in Eda Municipality is a farm from the 18th century, previously called Bön. In the later part of the 19th century it was owned by the lay judge (nämndeman) Erik Nilsson. The last private owner bequeathed the farm to Skillingmarks hembygdsförening (Skillingmark local heritage association), which manages it as a hembygdsgård (heritage homestead).
The house has been open to the public since the 1960s. The interior is preserved with furniture and everyday objects from both peasant and gentry settings, from the time when the house was lived in.
Frammegården is known as one of Sweden's most haunted houses, and according to a legend the site was an execution ground during the witch trials of the 17th century. The association rents out the house for overnight stays under the name Det hemsökta (The Haunted House). In summer, refreshments and a traditional midsummer celebration are held, and the association also has the Bruksgården (works farm) for meetings and a café.
