About the museum
Gammelmacken (the Old Petrol Station) is an old petrol station on Trollhättevägen in Sollebrunn. According to Retrovägen, the station was in operation between 1935 and 1950, and the building remains in a setting reminiscent of the mid-20th century.
The old workshop has been converted into a small nostalgia museum. It displays utility objects and equipment connected with petrol sales, so that visitors get an impression of how a filling station worked when motoring was new in the countryside.
The museum is part of Retrovägen, a route of visitor attractions around Alingsås that depicts everyday life in earlier times. Visits are by arrangement: you call and book a time for a viewing.
