About the museum
Höljebacka Brandmuseum is in Höljebacka, Karlsro, outside Upphärad in Trollhättan Municipality, and is run by a non-profit association, Höljebacka Brandmuseums Vänner (Friends of Höljebacka Fire Museum). According to the association’s website, the museum opened in 2006 and shows older fire protection history in a genuine setting.
The building is designed as a fire station from the 1950s. In the vehicle hall, which holds three to four vehicles, stand fire engines and ambulances, and a fully working fire pole descends from the upper floor. The collection consists mainly of vehicles and equipment from the 1940s to around the 1970s, among them Volvo fire engines and ladder trucks, a Volvo Jeep from 1969, a Volvo Spetsnos from 1939 and a Volvo Duett.
The museum also has a day room, a guard room and a workshop, as well as a special ambulance hall that was opened in 2015. In the period-style café next door there are mini exhibitions and a ladies’ hairdressing salon from the 1960s.
