About the museum
Göthlinska gården is a burgher's home by the square in Nora, with a sloping garden down towards Lake Norasjön. The Göthlin family owned the farm from 1886 to 1961. Agathon Göthlin, head of the Örebro Enskilda Bank's office in Nora, used part of the house as a bank office.
His daughter Ingrid Göthlin, a teacher, lived in the house until her death in 1961. Under her will nothing in the farm was to be changed, and a foundation now manages the property. The buildings have stood largely unchanged since the late 1800s, and most of the interior dates from that time. The farm has been a listed building since 2007.
The house tells the story of a bourgeois family's life around the turn of the century. There is furniture, art, photographs, toys and ornaments from the 1600s onwards, as well as samples of Miss Ingrid's porcelain painting. In the carriage shed (vagnslidret) the Hembygdsföreningen Noraskog (Noraskog Local Heritage Society) has a small exhibition on the history of Nora.
